X SERC SCHOOL ON EXPERIMENTAL HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS (SPONSORED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY)

The recent approval of the India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) and the Iron Calorimeter (ICAL) experiment by the Government of India has rejuvenated the experimental particle physics research in the country. Also, the successful Run I of the LHC, where the Higgs boson was discovered and many of its properties measured to a good precision, has blown a fresh breath into the entire world of high energy physics community.

With the start of Run II of LHC and upgrade of the CMS and ALICE detectors finalised, the construction of the ICAL detector picking up and other new experiments being designed and executed there is an intense need for the young generation to be trained properly to take up these challenges.

The Xth SERC School in Experimental high energy physics is an attempt in that direction and is being organised at the University of Delhi, Delhi. During the school there will be lectures on the concepts of particle and nuclear physics, accelerator technologies, detector physics, readout electronics & trigger system and data analysis techniques. Experts from all over the country and abroad will be delivering the lectures, conducting the tutorial sessions and hand on sessions on the detectors, electronics and data analysis.

We invite applications from the motivated graduate students working for their Ph.D. in the experimental high energy and nuclear physics, as well as some outstanding master students.
